Testing EV3 Sensors with the BrickPi

Beta Testing EV3 Sensors with BrickPi One of the projects we’re in the process of testing: an update to the BrickPi Firmware.  The original BrickPi firmware only works with NXT sensors.  We recently updated the firmware to accommodate EV3 sensors.  The firmware is still in Beta, but we’re inviting everyone to come try it out and tell us what you...

    Connecting the Arduino and EV3

With a few months of EV3 under our belt, we thought we would share some of what we learned about connecting the EV3 with the Arduino.  The Arduino is a fantastic system for tinkering with electronics.

  • Measuring EV3 Current Consumption

This week we want to share some data we gathered while running some tests on the new EV3 system. Using a DC Bench-top power supply, measuring down to the milliamp, we roughly measured the EV3 current consumption in different situations.  The tabulated data provides an interesting place to start when estimating the battery lifetime of the EV3 battery.

    Dexter Industries Sensors for EV3

Dexter Industries sensors for Mindstorms are now EV3 compliant, and we have a list of sensors and their status setup on our website here. Right now we have blocks for the dIMU, dLight, and dGPS.  We are quickly finishing the rest. Our EV3 package is fully open-sourced and you can view how we did it, and what we did, here on our...
