BrickPi not powering up

Hello,
I recently purchased the BrickPi+ Base kit after assembling the kit, it powered up I was able look around Raspbian, at the time didn’t have to try interfacing with any of the Lego devices. I finally got around to trying to interface BrickPi with a Lego Mindstorm device and found that it would not boot up, the power LED on the Raspberry Pi doesn’t illuminate, I tried using both the battery pack and power supply with the same results. I disassembled it, and I found the Raspberry PI boots up when separated. Tried reattaching the BrickPi, would not boot, the problem is definitely associated to the BrickPI. I was instructed by Dexter customer service to try the forum, as someone may provide assistance.
Thanks,
Ken

Hey Ken,
Sorry to hear about the troubles. I’m a little confused about your post, can you clarify this:
“I finally got around to trying to interface BrickPi with a Lego Mindstorm device and found that it would not boot up, the power LED on the Raspberry Pi doesn’t illuminate, I tried using both the battery pack and power supply with the same results.”

And backing up: you first powered up the Pi with the BrickPi+ attached; no problems.

When you attached a motor or sensor to it, and tried to power it up, you experienced the problems with the LED not powering.

Is that right?

John

Hey John,
Thank you for responding.
No, after assembling the BrickPi+ it powered up, the next time I tried to power it up, it would not, nothing attached. Please let know if you need more clarification.

Ken

I’m really baffled here. Can you post a picture of your device and setup to see if I’m missing something? Where did you purchase the BrickPi+?

As I has mentioned I had disassembled it while troubleshooting. Attached a few of pictures of the BrickPi+ and Raspberry pi. I purchased the kit through your website Dexter Industries.

Got it. Maybe the board was burned out or shorted. Did you notice any burning smell or any other disruption?

If we shipped you damaged hardware we’ll replace it. I’m still not sure what happened though; you say it was working when you first started, then suddenly, with no changes stopped working and wouldn’t boot.

Either way, if you contact us through our support page (http://dexterindustries.com/contact) we can arrange for a replacement. I’d like to take a look at the product and see what happened.
