Dexter Industries brings Wifi to Lego Mindstorms NXT.

We’ve built our first prototype and we’re shipping them out to our beta-testers and collaborators.  The hardware is done, and over the next few weeks we’ll be working to develop some killer software applications that will bring all the power of the internet and wifi to Lego Mindstorms NXT

    Is this anything like the samantha module used in First Tech Challenge?

    We’re not too familiar with the Samantha modules but there are a few fundamental differences. This will connect to Port 4 rather than the USB port of the NXT. It also directly connects to the NXT with no PIC in between the module and the NXT, and very little configuration.

    Will this sensor allow users to turn on or turn off NXT remotely via wifi connection? :D

    I can’t wait anymore.
    As I know, you transfer and receive data using HTTP method?
    Can you give me some sample code in C# or VB.NET?

    We’re not going to officially release it until we have, at least, one or two good examples in RobotC out there. However, if you’re willing to forgo the examples and want to work on it, you can buy the sensor here: Wifi Sensor

    So this seems a little bit unclear to me. Once your nxt is connected to the internet using your wifi sensor, can you then send direct commands to the nxt through the wifi sensor, or do you need to have a program running on the nxt to do anything useful?

    Kami,

    We’re in the process of trying to simplify some of the software. Ideally you would be able to either control it through the internet via direct commands, similar to what Xander did, or setup a more advanced way of communicating and getting data. You generally have to have a program running on the NXT though for it to do anything useful, whether you’re using our sensors or anyone else’s.
